Von Schloss Johannisberg zum Niederwalddenkmal
Schlossallee, 65366 Geisenheim-Johannisberg
A hike along history - from the famous Schloss Johannisberg to the impressive Niederwalddenkmal:
Starting at the meeting point at the Spätlesereiterdenkmal at Schloss Johannisberg, the iconic Riesling address, this varied hike leads to the Niederwalddenkmal, which is located high above the Rhine Valley.
Three breathtaking viewpoints into the Rhine Valley as well as three monasteries flank this approximately 5.5-hour hike on the well-known Rheinsteig stage - including the tasting of three wines.
Wandering along fields, forests, and vineyards, you will walk through the heart of the Rheingau and experience the diverse facets of this fascinating landscape - three suitable wines (each 0.1 l) and three monasteries will provide impressive insights into the history of the cultural landscape.
At the Abbey of St. Hildegard, there is an opportunity during a break to briefly recharge in the monastery café or visit the monastery shop / wine shop (each not included in the price).
Upon arrival at the Niederwalddenkmal, you can spend the afternoon at your leisure. If you still want to hike, linger in the Ostein Park and discover the Magic Cave and the grand viewpoints Rossel and Rittersaal.
Alternatively, you have the option to glide down into the valley by cable car or walk down independently to Rüdesheim (about a 20-minute walk) and try a typical "Rüdesheimer Kaffee" or stop by a cozy wine tavern.
