The master of the French boulevard has written this farce on the question of how brazen one or more lies can be and how a whole chain of lies can increasingly justify itself until the structure collapses. The consequences, however, are astonishing. Bernard has it all: He is handsome, wealthy, intelligent, likable, and married. Bernard is also selfish, a macho to the core, consistently unfaithful, a pathological liar, and a daredevil. Philippe is kind, generous, and above all honest. Dark clouds are gathering over Bernard's marital paradise: His lover Soraya threatens to expose the affair. Bernard urges his best friend Philippe to cover for him. After all, that's what best friends are for, right? A delightful comedy – and at the same time a delicious satire on bourgeois society.
