Blühende Vielfalt - was Rosen uns über Demokratie erzählen
Burgstraße 1, 65343 Eltville am Rhein
Roses as a Reflection of Democracy: This walk with tour guide Monika Albert connects flowers, history, and symbols of peace, resistance, and transience - with a glass of sparkling wine for greeting.
Roses are among the most symbolically significant flowers in the world. Their popularity has made them a cultural icon that encompasses all areas of life. Roses teach us to appreciate the moment. Their bloom is transient, yet all the more precious!
Living democracy is also a sensitive and valuable way of life that needs to be nurtured. We will visit the yellow-flowering floribunda rose Peace Memorial Park Hiroshima in the garden of the Electoral Castle, an example of international understanding and peace efforts.
You will learn interesting facts about the English Wars of the Roses in the 15th century, the strike slogan bread and roses from 1911, the symbolism of the Luther rose, and the white rose of resistance against dictatorship.
Selected literary texts will round off the walk. The event is free of charge, but a 0-euro ticket must be booked and presented at the beginning.
Duration: 1.5 hours
