Weingut Bickelmaier
Rheingaustr. 7, 65375 Oestrich-Winkel
For us, wine is a matter of the heart. The family winery is led by Andreas Bickelmaier in the 11th generation. With a lot of passion, dedication, and love for detail, he devotes all his attention to the vines and the wine. He loves to inspire people with wine, our Rheingau landscape, and the love of nature. Tradition is taken very seriously here. The Bickelmaiers are the oldest wine-growing family in Oestrich. This has now been documented for more than 375 years, dating back to 1641.
Let yourselves be inspired by our passion for wine and visit our family winery.
Building on a very long tradition, the Rheingau winery Bickelmaier from Oestrich-Winkel has been passionately engaged in viticulture since 1641 with a high standard of quality. The wine is inseparably linked to the family, and they collaboratively work on individual wines through close exchange.
No one in the area has been involved in viticulture longer than the Bickelmaier family. The beginnings are documented as far back as 1641, and today Andreas Bickelmaier leads the winery in the 11th generation. With a combination of traditional methods and modern technology, Andreas Bickelmaier strives for ever better wines. The enthusiasm and passion for wine are always inherited; without it, the family cannot operate. A distinct signature is already recognizable, which the winemaker continues to develop in order to successfully lead the Bickelmaier winery into the future.
With dedication, the Bickelmaier family tends to the vineyards. Special attention is paid to preserving the soils and soil life, as this keeps the vines in good condition. The work is carried out in an environmentally conscious and gentle manner, all aimed at achieving high grape quality. The reduced yields are selectively harvested and gently processed. The goal is to retain the high quality from the vineyard in the wines. The Rieslings are fermented cooled in stainless steel at the Bickelmaier winery and then aged for a long time on the fine lees. The Pinot Noir is aged in large wooden casks or barriques.
The grapes slowly ripen in the sunny-warm climate with cool nights on loess clay. The Bickelmaier winery cultivates around 14 hectares, predominantly planted with Riesling. From the "Oestricher Lenchen," a fruity-sweet Spätlese is produced, while the dry Riesling from here presents itself harmoniously. A tribute to the founding year is the Riesling "1641," which has aged in wooden casks. The "Erstes Gewächs" Riesling from the "Oestricher Doosberg" comes powerfully elegant with exotic fruit aromas. The Weißburgunder of the "Theodorus" line is also aged in barrique, just like the full-bodied elegant Pinot Noir with vanilla roast notes.
