Campingplatz Rettbergsaue
Schiffergasse 21A, 65201 Wiesbaden-Schierstein
The Rettbergsaue with camping sites extends over an area that belongs to the city districts of Biebrich and Schierstein. It covers 68 hectares, is three kilometers long, and measures about 300 meters at its widest point.
Due to its rich bird and plant life, 90 percent of the Rettbergsaue is a nature reserve. The remaining areas have been available to citizens for free for decades for local recreation. Visitors can feel almost like at the sea. There is no road traffic on the island, and dogs are also not allowed. This idyllic spot with its white sandy beaches is particularly a great destination for parents with children. Camping enthusiasts also find ideal conditions on the Rettbergsaue.
Currently, there is no access via the Schiersteiner Bridge. The connecting path from Rettbergsaue Biebrich to Schierstein is also closed. Due to the limited accessibility of the area, the passenger ferry "Tamara" has extended its sailing times www.tamara.rettbergsau.de
In April and May, as well as after the Hessian summer holidays, camping on the island is only permitted from Friday to Sunday, except on public holidays. From June until the Hessian summer holidays, the maximum duration of stay is five days. During the Hessian summer holidays, camping is unrestrictedly allowed. In general, all campers must register by phone at least three days in advance; more information can be found at www.mattiaqua.de/freizeit/rettbergsaue
