STADTGALERIE Mennonitenkirche: Märchenzauber
Schlossstr. 2, 56564 Neuwied
“ And if they haven't died...” The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are alive - they continue to tell stories of courage, magic, and the quest for happiness even today. Enchanting experiences for young and old can be found starting Wednesday, July 9th, at the Neuwieder STADTGALERIE Mennonitenkirche. Visitors to the exhibition “Fairy Tale Magic – A Journey Through the World of the Brothers Grimm” will immerse themselves in the fascinating worlds of Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood - and the Brothers Grimm. The new exhibition in the historically significant rooms of the STADTGALERIE Mennonitenkirche provides cultural history to marvel at: The famous children’s and household tales of the Brothers Grimm are among the most well-known works of world literature today. They have been translated into over 200 languages and have officially been part of the UNESCO World Document Heritage since 2005. The exhibition for the curious young and old offers exciting insights into the lives and work of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, who were not only fairy tale collectors but also significant language researchers. Rare illustrations, historic book editions, porcelain figures, and school pictures complement the varied display - a vibrant look into the enchanting world of the Brothers Grimm. Co-organizer and lender is the renowned Brothers Grimm Society based in Kassel. Dr. Sabine Meinen, the new director of the Neuwieder Stadtgalerie, eagerly looks forward to the upcoming summer weeks full of fairy tale magic: “Together with the Brothers Grimm Society, we present in our literally enchanting exhibition a variety of pieces that make the well-known stories experienceable in new ways. With small interactive offerings, the exhibition becomes a wonderful summer vacation experience for the whole family.” The exhibition “Fairy Tale Magic – A Journey Through the World of the Brothers Grimm” can be seen from July 9th to September 28th at the STADTGALERIE Mennonitenkirche, Schloßstraße 2. The gallery is open Wednesday to Friday from 2 PM to 6 PM and Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 12 PM to 6 PM. More information can be found at www.neuwied.de/galerie.
