"Then without a title..." - A biographical reading

Anja and Gerit Kling, Germany's most famous sister duo, have been successful actresses for decades and could hardly be more different. Both, Gerit and Anja, who is five years younger, grew up near Potsdam, went through the classic GDR youth, and dreamed early on of a life in freedom. Five days before the fall of the Berlin Wall, they fled to the West.
The following dramatic days they survived only together, as sisters, just as they have supported each other throughout their lives. While Gerit was drawn to the stage and in front of the camera from childhood, Anja only found her way to acting through detours. Both have made a career, but life in the spotlight also has its downsides. “This profession is the best in the world when it works, and the cruelest when it doesn’t work,” say the Kling sisters. Anja and Gerit Kling recount humorously, touchingly, and always honestly the highs and lows they have navigated as sisters. They share that one gets through life best when one doesn’t take oneself too seriously. And they reveal how to write a book together when they can’t even agree on a title.
