Romanticism and Early Industrialization

Children have always existed. But the social role of childhood has changed significantly over the centuries. The "concept" of childhood, as we understand it today, is not very old at all. In his lecture, Professor Dr. Winzen sheds light on the topic in an art historical context and shows how the portrayal of children in painting allows conclusions to be drawn about their social role and also about socio-political changes in various art epochs.
