Matthieu Saglio
Johannesstr. 20, 56112 Lahnstein
With a distinctive sound and an impressive musical range, Matthieu Saglio has established himself as one of the most fascinating cellists of his generation. After receiving classical training at the Conservatoire de Rennes, the native Frenchman is now based in Valencia. There, he is among the pioneers who established the fusion of the cello with the Spanish flamenco tradition – especially with his band Jerez-Texas, with which he has been touring the globe since 2002.
In parallel, Matthieu pursues numerous solo, duo, and band projects, and is a sought-after accompanist in various formations. This includes the trio NES, with which he released the album Ahlam (2018) three years after its founding on the renowned German label ACT.
Celebrated by the international press, the trio is now performing intensively across Europe. Matthieu's qualities as a composer can also be heard regularly in original soundtracks for theater or television.
As an artist ambassador of the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, his work is primarily guided by one goal: to open a dialogue between his instrument and other cultures.
An event of the Jazzclub Koblenz in collaboration with the Theater Lahnstein.
