delicate & hearty - worldwide yodel fusion...
these are Kerstin Kuschik (voice) and Uta Baldauf (accordion).
Uta certainly brings a childhood in the Allgäu foothills and is adept with hearty tunes – fortunately, local traditions are not her forte. Her accordion has mostly felt at home in tango.
Kerstin, on the other hand, grew up in the flatlands of a major city – with the Taunus as a respectable range of hills in the background. Jazz is her musical love.
And yodeling? For Uta, it was more associated with music shows. Kerstin enjoyed using her voice to yodel and keeping warm the animated Heidi theme song from her childhood… This led to an earnest Swiss yodeling course, which captivated her.
And now?
Both share a critical naivety and genuine joy in playing. They love to try new things and have fun with unusual combinations, whether it's fishnet stockings with lederhosen, a yodel solo in Finnish folk tango, or … Openness is known to keep the spirit young. So why not embark on the global journey of a singing technique and create a special yodel fusion together!
Yodeling exists in nearly every part of the world in different traditions - the spread of throat singing has extended from the Alpine region to several continents. Other regions and cultures also know singing with quick shifts between head and chest voice… in our everyday language, we call this "yodeling," but ultimately they are each their own cultural expressions.
delicate & hearty presents well-known yodelers, songs with yodel elements, mixes yodelers into songs or writes some of their own… always with a humorous and slightly quirky perspective. And thus, a program has emerged that is cheerfully entertaining, occasionally including explanatory segments – the audience thinks it's fantastic.
