Gemeinsam lesen – ganz leise: Silent Reading in der Stadtbücherei Lahnstein
Kaiserplatz 1, 56112 Lahnstein
A cozy evening, the scent of books in the air, and a deep, relaxed silence enjoyed not alone but in good company: The Lahnstein City Library invites you to leave everyday life outside for a moment and become part of a special experience: On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the format "Silent Reading" will celebrate its premiere in the premises at Kaiserplatz.
The concept relies on the power of conscious retreat and the special atmosphere of communal reading. While the library is already a place of tranquility in everyday life, this silence will be purposefully elevated to the program on this evening.
During Silent Reading, people come together to read at the same time in the same place – but without conversations, discussions, or distractions. Everyone reads individually, quietly, immersed in a self-chosen book or in a title from the extensive collection of the City Library. What emerges is a unique atmosphere: silent, focused, and at the same time communal.
“Many people desire more peace, more time for reading – and at the same time connection,” explains the team at the Lahnstein City Library. “Silent Reading combines both: You are not alone, but you are also not obliged to engage in conversation. Reading becomes a shared experience, entirely without social pressure.”
The cozy reading corners of the library provide the ideal setting for this. After a brief settling-in phase, quiet reading begins. Following that, a casual exchange opportunity will be available for all interested. Snacks and drinks will also be provided that evening.
The new format is particularly aimed at a young, reading-oriented target group, but it also appeals to individuals seeking deceleration and a little timeout from everyday life. Silent Reading is intentionally accessible: No preparation, no specific book, and no prior knowledge are necessary – just a desire to read.
The participation fee is 5.00 euros and can be paid on the day of the event. As spots are limited, registration is requested at buecherei@lahnstein.de.
