Dialog im weissraum: in search of... / a fairground attraction
Rosengasse 15, 65343 Eltville am Rhein
A new dialogue at weissraum
It's that time again: weissraum is opening its doors for a new dialogue between painting and photography. Under the title “in search of... / a fairground attraction,” colorful paintings and black-and-white photographs come together – color, light, and structure create a shared visual space full of connections and friction.
Daniela Schulz explores color space relationships: her images feature areas of color in which organic interaction prevails, as well as areas of color that show collisions or strong tensions. The interaction can sometimes appear explosive and dense, sometimes fragmentary, lonely, fleeting, fragile, and lost in the pictorial space. The color settings seek connections in existing structures—often beyond the edge of the image.
The photographic series “a fairground attraction” was created at Brighton Palace Pier—a traditional, slightly weathered fairground by the sea. Based on the memory of the song of the same name by the band Fairground Attraction, it deals with memory, transience, and emotional resonance: a place of noise and pleasure becomes a stage of longing, with images full of silence and melancholy between amusement arcades, flashy lights, and aged glamour.
We will open the exhibition on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at weissraum, Rosengasse 15, Eltville
