ADFC: Seitentäler der Wied
In der Lach 1, 56567 Neuwied
While cycling along the Wied offers scenic routes, completely new impressions can be gained away from the well-known paths. Here, the side valleys of the Wied are ideal, generally leading to the heights on the right and left of the Wied, and often providing spectacular views. We start at 10 a.m. from the parking lot next to the elementary school on the Wied in Niederbieber and ride along the cycle path by the Wied to Niederbreitbach, where we turn into the Fockenbachtal. Once we reach the heights at Siebenmorgen, the path leads through the Elsbachtal to Roßbach, from where we divert into the Brochenbachtal after a few kilometers. From the Linzer Höhe, we then go off the main road towards Malberg and continue on the Rheinhöhenweg to the Brombeerschänke, where we take a break with a view of the Neuwieder Basin. From there, we'll return to the starting point after another 8 kilometers. Since about a third of the route is on unpaved forest paths, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, or trekking bikes are suitable for this route. Regular road bikes and e-bikes with robust tires are also suitable. Considering the inclines, a certain level of fitness is advisable. Short breaks will be taken as needed.
