Weinsberger Turm
Schlossstraße 1, 56112 Lahnstein
At Schlossstraße 1 stands the Weinsberger Tower. The building, dating from the 14th century, is part of the monument zone Schloss Martinsburg and the city fortifications along the Rhine front. The rectangular Gothic southeast tower without a roof juts out from the line of the city walls. It is named after its builder, Elector Conrad of Weinsberg, whose coat of arms is affixed to the beak of the tower. The Elector was Archbishop of Mainz from 1396. The tower has a dungeon on the ground floor and an octagonally vaulted chamber on the upper floor. The round stair tower, which is projected to the north, leads to the overhanging top floor supported by an arch frieze.
Today, the knight's guild has set up a club room in the Weinsberger Tower. They regularly hold historical camps in the park area of Martinsburg.
