The Winery
The Hirt-Gebhardt Winery has its origins in the center of the traditional wine village of Martinsthal in the Rheingau, where the winemaking family Gebhard has been mentioned in documents since the end of the Thirty Years' War.
Through marriage, the current name of the winery was established in 1948. Over time, Christian Gebhardt, the current senior, along with his wife Elke and the support of his parents, has developed a small family business into a thriving winery with 23 hectares of vine growing area. Today, his son Christian Gebhardt Jr. is the owner of the business, thus following in his father's footsteps. He and his wife Claire are continuing the family's winemaking tradition together.
To cope with the structural change and development in viticulture, they decided to move from the confined local area in Martinsthal to the Eltviller Sonnenberg.
With a lot of work, passion, and especially the support of a strong family, they have established their new winery in Eltville.
