Loreley Statue on the Loreley Plateau

The Loreley. She has made our surroundings world-famous and a tourist attraction. Since spring 2023, there is the new Loreley sculpture on the Loreley Plateau. The 2.20 m high artwork was created by the Berlin sculptor Valerie Otte, whose design was able to stand out in a national realization competition with citizen participation among more than 50 competitors. Valerie Otte depicts the beautiful Loreley classically on a rocky pedestal and adorns her figure with numerous insignia from the Loreley story. Her flowing hair resembles a river course. However, the artist emphasizes in her version of the Loreley less the eerie danger that she represents, according to the legend, for the boatmen. In her own words, she tries to present a "feminine view of the Loreley" - as a woman who mourns her beloved and is "deeply lost in herself and her thoughts."
