Hunsrückbahn

Kalmuterweg 1, 56154 Boppard

The Hunsrückbahn exists since 1908 and is the fastest train in the rlp. It has 5 Tunnels and 2 viaducts on its track. One one part, the train has to "climb" 336m high on a distance of 8,5 km.

Idyllic mountaineer

For railway enthusiasts, the Hunsrück Railway between Boppard and Emmelshausen, which was opened in 1908, is one of the most interesting in the country.

This is not only due to the breathtaking landscape of the Middle Rhine Valley and Vorderhunsrück, which passes by the train window. With five tunnels and two viaducts, the railway overcomes an 8.5-kilometer section of 336 meters in altitude, making it the steepest regular-service railway in Germany and still an engineering masterpiece today.

Especially day trippers and excursionists therefore like to use the 2008 completely renovated route. Cyclists and hikers not only find ample space for luggage in modern vehicles, but also for up to ten bikes! With the various group and day passes for the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Mosel or the Rheinland-Pfalz-Ticket, you can experience the spectacle of nature on further travel to the discounted rate.
