Hospital Chapel
56112 Lahnstein
Address Navigation: Hochstraße 31, 56112 Lahnstein
The chapel was built around the year 1330 and originally served, along with the attached hospital, as accommodation for pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela.
Over time, it lost its religious character. During the renovation from 1981 to 1985, a significant find of a medieval pilgrim grave was made, which also contained two scallop shells. It is only the fourth pilgrim grave of this kind in Germany.
Today, the chapel is used for concerts, lectures, poetry readings, weddings, and exhibitions.
