Who is standing by the riverbank and taking a shower? The “Everyday People” are coming to Neuwied! From April 2025, life-sized concrete sculptures that artistically stage everyday scenes will enrich the Neuwied city center. Until the end of June, the artworks invite a rediscovery of public space. The first two figures have now arrived and offer a first glimpse. “The Showerers” are here Already, they can be admired: Two sculptures titled “The Showerers” have recently been placed on the dyke area, near Schlossstraße. Those who look from afar may initially be surprised and think they are “real people.” But as one gets closer, the life-sized concrete sculptures develop their own unique effect and dynamics. They are an artistic staging of the everyday. As touching snapshots, they show what is easily overlooked: lived life in its purest form – unvarnished but not banal. They remind us how valuable and beautiful the simple, often overlooked moments of life are.

“The Showerers” are just the beginning of a whole series of Everyday People who will populate the city center in spring. Many different figures will then be coming to Neuwied. Each one is an invitation to rediscover the Neuwied city center. The life-sized sculptures sit on a bench, are engaged in a conversation, or simply enjoy the moment. They invite you to walk around them, touch them, or just observe them in peace. And why not simply join in? A shower is free, and anyone who wants can join in and pose for photos. Thus, the human figures become a part of public life, showcasing the beauty of the everyday and creating a new “photopoint.”
