Genusswanderung Mittelrheinkirsche
In der Wachport, Oberstraße, 56341 Filsen
Experience the unique diversity of traditional Middle Rhine cherries on a delightful hike through the idyllic cherry village of Filsen – located at the largest bend of the Rhine in the Middle Rhine region.
Along the approximately two-kilometer-long Filsener Cherry Path, you can expect breathtaking views, intriguing stories about old cherry varieties, and of course, many special taste experiences.
Try the Middle Rhine cherry:
• fresh off the tree
• dried
• as fine beverages
• and in creative finger food variations
The hike will be accompanied by cherry expert Frank Böwingloh, who will provide exciting insights into the over 80 rare cherry varieties of the “German Gene Bank Cherry.” Many of these historic varieties are hardly available today and are considered valuable cultural assets of the Middle Rhine Valley.
In 2021, the “Traditional Cherry Varieties from the Upper Middle Rhine Valley” were even awarded as an Ark Passenger by Slow Food Deutschland e. V. – a special treasure that you can discover and enjoy on this hike.
