The RheinSteig is a 320 km trail on the right side of the Rhine that links Bonn, Koblenz and Wiesbaden on mainly narrow paths with steep climbs and descents, leading walkers and hikers to forests, vineyards and spectacular views.
Meticulously signposted and closely networked, the route is suitable for ambitious long-distance hikes and shorter walks rich in diversity, and is easily accessible by rail, boat and car and within reach of several airports. Yellow-marked access routes guide walkers safely to the main trail which is marked in blue, making it easy to plan out the route in stages.
The most beautiful hiking trail in Germany
Every year Germany's most beautiful hiking trails are put to the vote at Tour Natur, the largest hiking and trekking trade show in the country. The RheinSteig was the first long-distance trail in Germany to win this accolade.
The German Hiking Seal of Approval
The German Hiking Institute has designated the RheinSteig as a premium trail. All of its signposting is checked every three years.
Rhineland-Palatinate tour app
The Rhineland-Palatinate tour app is now available free of charge for the iPhone and for Android smartphones. It covers all the certified hiking trails in the Rhineland-Palatinate, including the RheinSteig.
